Mille Miglia de Argentina 2007
In November 2007, Bob and Jeannie Sidi, along with Hector and Elena Castro, competed in the automobile rally known as the Mille Miglia de Argentina. Although we originally planned to campaign our own cars (a 1934 SS1 Saloon for the Castro's and a 1969 XKE Coupe for the Sidi's), we were unable to prepare our cars in time for the event. Thankfully, our good Argentine friend Juan Bartholme' came to our rescue and lent us his beautiful 1965 Jaguar Mark 2.
Operating out of Lliao Lliao in Bariloche, Argentina, Hector drove (while Bob navigated) the vintage Jaguar some 1000 miles through Patagonia. Our journey even took us over the Andes into Chile - traversing passes above the snow line. Driving as much as 10 hours a day, we were timed in increments of 1/100th of a second. Any checkpoint with more than a three second error was considered a DNF!
